Descriptions

VLC media player is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player that plays most multimedia files as well as discs, devices, and network streaming protocols.

This is the port of VLC media player to the Android™ platform. VLC for Android can play any video and audio files, as well as network streams, network shares and drives, and DVD ISOs, like the desktop version of VLC.

VLC for Android is a full audio player, with a complete database, an equalizer and filters, playing all weird audio formats.

VLC is intended for everyone, is totally free, has no ads, no in-app-purchases, no spying and is developed by passionate volunteers. All the source code is available for free.

Features
––––––––
VLC for Android™ plays most local video and audio files, as well as network streams (including adaptive streaming), DVD ISOs, like the desktop version of VLC. It also support disk shares.

All formats are supported, including MKV, MP4, AVI, MOV, Ogg, FLAC, TS, M2TS, Wv and AAC. All codecs are included with no separate downloads. It supports subtitles, Teletext and Closed Captions.

VLC for Android has a media library for audio and video files, and allows to browse folders directly.

VLC has support for multi-track audio and subtitles. It supports auto-rotation, aspect-ratio adjustments and gestures to control volume, brightness and seeking.

It also includes a widget for audio control, supports audio headsets control, cover art and a complete audio media library.

I really like vlc, use it on every device, but the latest update causes my HTC One m9 to eject my SD card during scanning and therefore prevents me from actually listening to music. This happend with an update a few months ago, sadly I don't remember when, it got fixed, and now the bug is back. Please fix, I want to use vlc again :/ Full Review

Update (Nov/Dec2017) now means the player is not persistant when not in use. Is there an option for this? By persistant I mean open app, select music, listen to music, press pause, unspecified time later (less than 4 hrs) press unpause yet app shuts down and I have to select mucic again. Otherwise vlc is 5* on the PC as it doest shut down between songs or films after pausing! Full Review

Used to be absolutely perfect lightweight functional app so obviously that had to be changed. Last two updates (particularly this last one) have destroyed the playlists. Now acting just like windows media player, filing many albums in pieces or just not at all. Will delete and look elsewhere. Full Review

Overall, I liked the update. Aesthetically it's a massive improvement. But most of my music no longer appears in the Artist or Album panes. Although they are still accessible through the songs list, it's difficult to find a song or listen to a full album with this problem. And now that I've worked out how to re-add everything, now I have doubles of every song appearing in my directory. Come on guys. Full Review

Every time an update is pushed out it deletes my playlist. I do not understand what the issue is. Either I am doing something wrong or there is something wrong with the program itself. I have had plenty of different music players and none of them delete my playlist when they are updated. If you could tell me how to prevent this from happening or how to recover my playlist that would be great. Fix this problem and it will be a great app. Full Review

For video, vlc is absolutely great. For music, it is unusable due to persistent glitching a second or two after beginning to play any mp3, m4a or flac file. Such a shame! Full Review

Although a huge fan of VLC for PC, this one annoyed me in a few ways. Primarily, that the midia library parcing must be 100% redone after every software update. Sure, I have a huge audio collection (48gb); but it's much much slower than the default Android player on both my new phone (asus zenfone V) and my prior (Blackberry KEYone) [both roughly hardware equivalent to Galaxy Samsung7]. At least the player is reasonably good once the half-hour media parse is completed. Full Review

Really need to be able to take given title of a file instead of metadata, I'm transfering my dvd collection to my pc and on android the titles are track x instead of the title I have given them... A big turn down to an else excellent player, no idea why this is not already a part of the android app it's on the pc version? 5 stars when simple issue is fixed Full Review

Good video player, and even for audio too. Needs to add support for one button mic headset, one click for play/pause, two clicks for next track, three clicks for previous tracks, etc. Sort mode in Video always change back to "Name" every time either from changing tab or closing the app. Full Review
