By far the best photo app I've came across. So simple to use and nicely organised, exactly what I was looking for. It's great to be able to view your photo's and videos across all devices (even offline - on mobile only). You can put your pics or videos in a folder and arrange in any way you want (oldest/newest/recently added/custom (drag and drop to rearrange) - EDIT see update below -, add text within folder view. It even recognises what's in a picture and automatically categorises them. You can even search for a photo by just remembering something that's in the photo eg. dog, bridges, beaches, mountains, waterfalls etc. This app is so cool - trust me UPDATE: can't manually rearrange my photos in my albums on phone app anymore only on desktop. Please bring this back on the phone app!!! Full Review

I really do love this app and I find that impressive because I hate photo albums. It makes photo keeping and use SO easy because it automatically uploads all my photos behind the scenes to the cloud and then I can organize them into albums to use on any device. It also automatically does some cool and strange styling tweaks and video collages you can view and keep or just ignore. That's more fun than it sounds :). Overall excellent and would recommend to anyone. Full Review

Very good app for organising and backing up photos but it is not detecting duplicate photos as my mi cloud account automatically downloads photos in full resolution and when space is low it automatically deletes full size image and when space is good it again download full size images but in google photos it backup up same image everything again and again. Fix this. Add features to identify duplicates and we should have folder there is only albums not folder in cloud storage its making me hard to organise my 15000 pictures. Full Review

It would've been a good app, but it has a huge flaw. It has unlimited storage for photos in "high quality", but in reality it's only 1600px on the long side. The app doesn't warn you about it. We upload photos to the cloud, free up space and real high quality is gone. All your photos now in 1600px. The app should warn about it! Full Review

This app is easy to use. Plus if you choose to upload your photos in high quality you can upload as many pictures as you want in high quality without taking up any cloud storage! The high quality is great! I can barely tell the difference between the original quality and the high quality. You can set it up to automatically backup your photos, videos, gifs, etc over WiFi and cellular data. It's worry-free knowing that my pictures are automatically backing up on WiFi so if I accidentally delete an important picture on my phone, or if the picture was on my old phone, I just go to my Google Photos app and look for it. Plus you can name pictures so they become easier to search for. Full Review

I love how easy this app makes organizing pictures taken at various events. Part of my job is to photograph events I help lead, and sometimes my phone is closer than my cameras. I used to have trouble finding pics on my phone and submitting them with other pictures from events. But the Assistant tab in google photos lets me make albums for each event and then share them with my work email. Photos also go to my google drive, although I cannot find the albums there (which would be a nice addition to the app). The app also suggests edits for your photos, albums based on locations, and reminds you of past events; sometimes I enjoy this feature, but usually I prefer my own albums and edits. Full Review

I never knew how amazing this app is until I started taking pictures at Disneyland. Not only did the pics/videos come out in hi-def but with the unlimited upload feature I backed up 150+ pics/vids. The assistant gave me pictures/gifs/movies that I didn't even know I had making my collection of memories even better! I highly recommend this app, especially if you're a Google pixel user! I hate taking photos and organizing them. This app makes it easy and dare I say it fun. Aside from the extremely generous unlimited photo storage the app itself just works and even makes novel suggestions about photo albums and the like. Is there something better? I don't know maybe, but this is free and is great for the novice/amateur photographer. Full Review

Free, unlimited storage. I have no issues with that. This app is perfect for my entire family. Sharing photos is simple and comparable with every system I've seen. I'm an in-home tech specialist and I would never recommend anything else to my clients. Yet another great application from Google. Full Review

It is missing some of the features the older version had. For example when selecting multiple pics, it no longer has the preview option before selecting the next pic. Also, when I upload from another camera, it always counts against my Google Drive space even though I have the setting to the high quality unlimited setting. Full Review

I love how simple it is to use, and it's a great backup tool. Once backed up, I can access photos and videos on my PC and other devices. Assistant is also a cool feature and I love seeing the animations and panoramas it comes up with. Makes sharing photos and collaborative albums a breeze, sort your photos via facial recognition, place, time, visual content. Great utility. Full Review

This app is awesome if you take a lot of pictures and videos! It makes short animations of a special moment, or even a video of your pics from a trip or just a fun day! The assistant helps make those without even asking which is a fun surprise, or you can do it all yourself! Also fun collage layouts you can use any time you'd like! Full Review

Garbage. What happened to being able to drag and drop to reorder pictures inside an album? If there is a way, then I can't find it on your "friendly" UI. Total trash, I will just stick to using my flippin' computer instead of this. I hate that it's a standard installation for my phone. EDIT: Found out the only way I can drag and drop pics to reorder them is to create an album on your freaking servers! Wth! I should have the same function to organize the stuff on my device without using your servers and your "free" space. Screw this, I'm not gonna be another sheep mindlessly putting who knows what onto your servers. Don't trust clouds. I'm done with this app, goodbye. Full Review

Incredibly poor app. By default (and not changeable) this app backs up photos you don't want backed up. On top that after signing on you can't delete your account. Should you delete your account photos in an attempt to get your photos off of "goggle photos" be careful as should you later install the app again it will delete your orginals on your device. Amazingly ignorant application that's goal is apparently to hold you hostage. On the other hand, if you don't mind that you have no control over your account and are comfortable with the real possibility that your photos may well be deleted by Google your in luck! Full Review

Not a fan... have the Pixel XL and I use Textra as my messaging app...pics I receive don't show up even though I've indicated they be saved. Also photos all over the place on my Google drive. No longer using the backup to drive feature, rather I'm backing up to Dropbox for simplified organization. Where are the pics I receive and why aren't they showing up? Gonna try a different photos app... Love Google, disappointed in this app. Full Review

Absolute trash. Takes AGES (10 to 15 seconds of loading and reloading) to view pictures taken from your camera if you store them on microSD, while every other gallery app can view them instantly. Which would be fine if Google didn't force you to use Google photos to access the pictures from within your camera. Google, please allow us to use whatever gallery app we want to view the photos from within the camera app instead of using your achingly slow app. K thanks. Full Review

EDIT: ok so I found the workaround eventually to sort the album's but needs to be done from desktop. Stupid.. Now I find out that we are limited to 2,000 photos per album. Persistent external storage permission issues. Why does a Google app, pre-installed as system, lack the ability to delete photos stored on the SD card? For that matter, why does a photo management app have any problems with managing photos??? There are so many things that Google gets right with this app, sadly basic file management is not one of them. Google's overly complicated photo management and SD card permission hurdles on many handsets is the persistent black eye that Google Photos wears. Full Review

I really like this app when using a fast Internet connection but as I am currently travelling through parts of the world that this is not always possible I'd love to have the ability to transfer all my photos from a separate camera. I have also found since changing phone that any photos I upload from a separate camera now create a second file once edited, photos from the phone do not and have the ability to undo all edits at any time. This is extremely frustrating, I've tried varies ways of uploading the camera pics and they all now do this, which is slow and wastes a lot of data. Please advise how to rectify this. Full Review
