A TILE PLACEMENT GAME OF CREATING LANDSCAPES, CLAIMING AREAS, AND GAINING POINTS

Carcassonne is a modern classic tile-placement game based on the award wining game in which the players draw and place a tile with a piece of southern French landscape on it. The tile might feature a city, a road, a cloister, grassland or some combination thereof, and it must be placed adjacent to tiles that have already been played, in such a way that cities are connected to cities, roads to roads, et cetera. The player can then decide to place one of his followers, so called Meeples, on one of the areas on it: on the city as a knight, on the road as a robber, on a cloister as a monk, or on the grass as a farmer. When that area is complete, that meeple scores points for its owner. Each new game is a new experience thanks to the ever-changing landscape.

ENJOY FUN AND TACTICAL GAMEPLAY

During a game of Carcassonne, players are faced with decisions like: "Is it really worth putting my last meeple there?" or "Should I use this tile to expand my city, or should I place it near my opponent instead, making it harder for him to complete his goal and score points?" Since players place only one tile and have the option to place one meeple on it, turns proceed quickly even if it is a game full of options and possibilities.

2 EXPANSIONS: ENLARGE YOUR LANDSCAPE AND OPTIMIZE YOUR POINTS

Thanks to the mini expansions "The River" and "The Abbot", you can embellish your landscape and vary your game to enjoy new ways to play!

The map tiles are far too busy and garish, so the option to switch to a more traditional skin would be great. I'd be happy to pay for different options. I like the toggle for showing who owns fields. The 3d view seems pretty pointless. Full Review

The 3D graphics and animations are busy and extremely difficult to read, and look nothing like the board game. Monasteries are not identifiable at all, and the perspective makes it very confusing to reason about the board state (I turned it off immediately). The animations are over-long and make the game feel sluggish, and in general reduce clarity rather than aiding it. Full Review

Carcossone is great but it keeps disconnecting from the servers halfway through games which means your clock is ticking but you can't play or it autoplays for you. My internet connection & data connection are fine but I keep getting error messages telling me to check it, or that I'm logged on another device. It freezes about twice a game which again looses time due to the fancy graphic that relays all the tiles one by one every time you go out of the gane to unfreeze it. I'm hovering on uninstalling which is a shame as it's a well designed game - if it worked reliably. Full Review

There are serious bugs. I own the table top game and bought the app to play with friends. The app has dumped my data twice, twice preventing me from logging in, stating that the username does not exist. Full Review

All in all this is a great game. There are two things that would make it 5 stars in my book. 1. Integration with Facebook so you can invite a specific friend(s) to play against you. 2. Expansion packs. (The abbott and the river are the only two expansions in this app and more expansions would be preferable.) I love that the AI players are smarter than in previous versions. They still aren't quite smart enough. The game is super fun. It is an addictive strategy game. Full Review

Game looks and plays very well. My only real complaint now is that the board does the full replay animation every time you leave and return to the app, even if you just jump to your home screen and back. It would be cool if it would just replay the last turn of pieces to save time. The devs were very quick to respond to my support issue and have resolved the problem with notifications on Android 8.0. Thumbs up for that! Full Review

Better than the other version that was on the Play Store years ago. When we play it may take a day or two. It's great that we can set the game for two week. However, since he went last, I didn't get to see the final scoring. There's also an issue with muting sounds. It doesn't work. Also, today, I can no longer successfully set up matches with friends nor am I getting notifications once we finally get the match set up. Lastly, when playing online, there's no reason why every time I log in I see a replay of all the moves. Full Review

The game was great when it worked. However, two updates ago it started crashing on launch. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I normally wouldn't complain about an app not working on one phone since the android market is so fractured and its challenging to keep an app working for everyone. But I have a flagship device running the newest stable release of Android and this is a paid app from a respected company so I expect better. Full Review

Game crashes on launch after several times. Had to force stop and clear cache to be able to play. -- Good looking 3D that can catch attention of new groups of player. The controls is intuitive but zomming/panning is sometimes feel not sensitive enough. -- A very great game overall. Full Review

I have the 2015 version of the same game and it is much better. The expansion packs are more entertaining and I love the double base tile expansion so the games can go longer. The 3D animations slow down my device a lot and my device heats up a lot when playing. The only reason I have now got this version is so that I can play with friends and overall I find it lacking and in need of serious improvement. Full Review

Animations slow the gameplay down compared to the Xbox 360 version. It uses a 25 min chess-style player timer that no one I have played yet has reached. Small player base so far, as there are only around 10,000 downloads at the time of this review. But pretty quick to find a match. Same rules that I'm used to on other versions, creates a pick-up-and-play experience. Overall 4/5 Full Review

This version of the game is great. Waiting for more expansions. Only took stars off for the investment I lost in the previous version when the licensing expired, and not looking forward to having to shell out another $10(!) to the next developer when *this* licensing expires. It's a frustrating shell game. Full Review

Not bad, though rivers should have been included for free as it was in other versions of the game. 3D doesn't add much to the experience but having a decent multiplayer community would, as well as expansions. With a game as well-established as this, more expansions are needed before this can replace the Exozet version and come close the 🍎 one. Update: The online community is horribly rude, ruining the experience. Play an Uwe game instead - the community is very supportive and friendly. Full Review

The game itself is fantastic. What is really crappy though is the fact that you and your friends have to all be in the game to get an invite to work. If you just send the invite without them all being in the game, the session never starts. Another thing that sucks is when your multiplayer game with friends ends after the last turn, only the person to take the last turn sees the results. I have completed 5 games so far and the only one I've gotten credit for is the one where I happened to take the last turn. Fix these issues and I'll raise my overall rating. Full Review

Very nice resurrection of the game. Given the simplicity of the genre and the game itself, the app feels a bit heavy, as in things take a long time to load or to refresh, but not to the degree as to distract from gameplay. AI opponents could be a lot smarter! Other then these it's a great app, congrats to the devs. Full Review
