With the Amazon app for Android tablets you can easily search across Amazon’s catalog of millions of products to quickly find what you are looking for, browse and shop by department, and check out lightning deals and deals of the day. Product detail pages provide useful product information and allow you to read and write product reviews or share products with friends.

Enjoy features built especially for tablets, including a fun new way to set aside items – press and hold on any product image and fling it to the bottom of the screen. The items are saved in a tray that is available to you throughout the entire app, making it easy for you to get to your set aside items with one tap.

All purchases made on the Amazon app for Android Tablets are routed through Amazon's secure servers just as they are on the web. And just like the web experience, Android app customers enjoy the same functionalities of the Amazon Shopping Cart, Wish Lists, order history, payment and Amazon Prime member shipping options, and 1-Click settings. Customers are able to shop any of Amazon's sites around the world from a single app.

** The current release supports Android tablets that are 7" to 10" with resolutions from 600x1024 to 1600x2560 with Android OS 4.0.3 and up.

On Android devices with GPS, we access location information only so that we can provide customers with the option to send packages to a nearby Amazon Locker (a feature only available in the US and UK currently). On Android devices with both WiFi and cellular radios, we access the phone only to determine which radio to use depending on the strength of signal. On WiFi only products, this permission isn't applicable, but Android's security model requires us to ask on all installations. In order to securely send and receive push notifications on your device (should you choose to do so), we need to use the following permissions: "Receive data from Internet" and "Prevent tablet from sleeping". We require “Read Contacts” permission to make it easier for you to find and invite friends from your phone address book.

* Microphone access: search Amazon catalogue of products using your voice.

* Install Shortcut & Read Settings: Used to create a shortcut icon for Amazon Cash if customers choose to have one.
* Receive SMS: This permission is used to simplify the process of phone number verification when creating an Amazon account registered to your mobile phone number.

Disappointing. A retail company like Amazon should have an app that's actually able to display products properly. Having to scroll left to right constantly to read product details is a ridiculous formatting issue to have. As of Jan 19th 18 the problem persists. Hire some proper coders. Full Review

The app isn't nearly as comprehensive as the website and a suspiciously large number of permissions is required. Which might be less of a problem were it not for revelations about Amazon's treatment of employees and avoidance of UK taxes. You may want to ask if you trust them with your data. Amazon used to be my main online supplier, but not any more. Full Review

UPDATE: Well done Amazon! Two months later, you finally get around to releasing an update —and completely fail to address the fact dozens of people have been telling you the text is literally too small to read on 7" tablets— f**king morons! PREVIOUS: Was working fine until the last update. Now text is literally too small to read on my 7" tablet. Even the most rudimentary beta testing would have flagged this up,so how the hell did this get out the door? And why is it still not fixed, several weeks later? Full Review

Horrible tablet performance on a Samsung sm-t350, could not complete an order, buggy, show. Samsung updated my tablet to 7.0.1 but this app is terrible despite getting an update in November 2017. Give me the mobile version please! If I install the Amazon Shopping mobile phone version apk, it behaves properly..... why have a tablet version in my mind when phone version works brilliantly. A previous update was broken and would not run at all on a Nexus 7. This one is better as it is broken only some of the time. It frequently refuses to load some views, apparently at random. Needs more work if Amazon want my money..... Still broken. Frequently hangs and almost impossible to use. Full Review

I dont know what is going on with tthis app, it keeps glitching. The screen pops in an out and even force stopping doesnt help. I do like tracking is better and amazon it doing more of their own shipping but the delievery drivers are no better than ups/fedex with leaving your stuff on the door without knoking or needing a signature. Slow inconsistent performance on Android 4.2. The app tries to do too much all at once and fails at the basic presentation. Images fail to load. It is very slow. But I don't like it on the browser either. Half the screen is taken up with useless info. By the way, why are they asking about shipping and returns and customer service for the reviews? Are we reviewing the app or Amazon? Full Review

The usual amazon app for mobile is very good with all the services & offers. It made me a loyal customer but since i bought new tablet from amazon and installed amazon for tablets, my experience with amazon has been devastating. Amazon for tablet feels like a half built app, doesn't have many features & services of the official amazon mobile app like amazon pay & the existing interface also freezes. I'm greatly disappointed this time with amazon. Full Review

Came from eBay and was hoping to switch over to amazon prime . I started my prime free trial and bought 2 items which was supposed to receive it on the 28th but was delayed to the 29th and now the 30th. The items that was shipped out was by amazon carriers and not other major services. Thank you amazon, for letting me try prime for 2 days, I have canceled to continue prime and uninstalling after this. Full Review

Appalling experience on 10 inch tablets, from one of the wealthiest tech corps on the planet. Home page looks fine but product pages have sideways scrolling, tiny type, limited functionality. The app itself is fine, but I'm knocking it down a few stars because it refuses to save any changes you make to its notification settings. I don't want to have to mute all notifications via Android because I want to receive the delivery notifications. However, the app refuses to save changes when I disable other notifications like personalized recommendations. Amazon has the resources to do better. Full Review

Horribly slow to load items when you tap on them. I would give it a few more stars if this were at least decent, however, I can't even call it a decent app. I can load item pages much faster in a regular web browser. Here I'm left wondering if the app even has any intention of loading the page as I continue to wait. Full Review

Have encountered loss leader products on Amazon, very disturbing. The app itself is clunky with limited viewing flexibility. APP: add option in settings to have a "no graphics" opening page, in order summary separate cancel delivery from cancel order, add "other" in delivery instructions, add delivery instructions for all deliveries, add delivery date change to a later date, and return format of print return labels in continuous pages. PRODUCTS: a high % from my search results were below average, in large part, by wrong customer reviews. I had to return. Suggest requirement of material used, product dimensions, product weight, and American metrics. IDEAS: I have trend, product, and invention ideas to sell but have no patent. I'd like Amazon to accept them without one. Industry truth is patents may be lawfully avoided, and my ideas may not fit in this category. Full Review

I honestly thought that Amazon marketplace, being as massive as it is, would have an app that worked well.....It doesn't, the fact is you will struggle to find an app anywhere that is as truly atrocious as this. I cannot understand why one of the biggest online market places has an app made by a team that CANNOT WRITE CODE! eBay has an app for tablets that works absolutely perfectly.....It is for this reason that I will be doing my business through eBay from now on. It is not like they haven't had sufficient time to correct the mistakes, they don't seem to, I will hit them where it hurts, the pocket. If you want better service from Amazon follow my example, they will have no choice but to change their evil/idle ways. Full Review

This app sucks! always re-loads in the middle of reviewing an item, so all of the writing i have done for the review is lost.. waste of my time. never using this app again!! IT also takes forever to load! so if all i want to see are the reviews, it does not let me see them until after the entire page is loaded, which takes forever! The drag and drop an item into your wish list feature doesn't always work, and i like that feature, so it is a pain when it doesn't work and takes longer to load when you select the almost hidden option to add this item to your list, then you have to select which list, whereas the drag and drop option is fast and convienient, but makes no sense not to work half o the time! Ridiculously slow to start up, to the extent that Android thinks the app has crashed. Once started, it is only marginally faster, still bordering on unusable. Shopping basket indicator stays at '0', even if it has items added. Being a developer myself, if I had delivered this app, I would be embarrassed. Avoid, and use the web site instead. Full Review
